We’re delighted to sponsor The Drum’s Digital Census this year. The companies recognised in this survey are at the forefront of innovation in the marketing services sector, and represent the rapidly changing face of the digital industry.
As the leading M&A advisor to the digital sector Results International is proud to be part of this vibrant industry. Levels of deal activity in the space continue their upward trend and are set to break through the 1,000 mark for the first time this year. More notable though is the sheer number of new entrants buying into the sector, driven by some fundamental changes in the industry.
The convergence between marcoms and IT services has been accelerating for some years now, but reached new levels in 2016. Today digital represents more than customer-facing campaigns or digital experiences – rather it’s enterprise-wide digital transformation and the reinvention of traditional business models – which in turn shifts the way customers engage with brands.
No established enterprise in the world can afford to ignore this digital disruption. It’s no surprise there’s high demand from brands for agencies that can offer new ways of thinking about digital and then make that change happen. Increasingly this requires an ability to bring together a range of skills, including strategy, UX, innovation, engineering and design.
Other areas of rapid growth and huge opportunity include AI and machine learning; data and analytics; UX, omni-channel customer engagement; AR and VR.
It’s not just the type of work that’s changing, it’s also the way it is being done. There’s a plethora of new ways of working coming to the fore, whether that’s the growth of agile methodologies, the rise of on-site integrated client teams, or greater use of networks of remote workers.
From every perspective, there’s never been such an exciting time to be in this industry. Keep informed with our quarterly reviews of the sector here.
